Profile
Shreya is a sustainable urban development expert, with 12+ years experience in a diverse array of community-based action research and design practices. She has worked on research and policy in urban development and award-winning urban planning and urban design projects in India.
Shreya is the Principal Architect at [SKDO.], a design and planning action research practice, and co-founder and former director at Sponge Collaborative, a multi-disciplinary strategic planning and design practice. Her projects have been featured several times in peer-led design publications. The urban design projects she has been involved with have received awards from the Deutsche Gesellenschaft fur Zusammenarbeit (GiZ) India, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, featured in the Global Street Design Guide by C40 cities, and have been adopted as the national model for best practices by the Government of India under its Smart Cities programme. Her research and advocacy experience includes working directly with urban local bodies and parastatal agencies in several Indian cities and states on urban development and regional and spatial planning frameworks. She has consulted with multi-lateral organisations such as the United Nations Development Fund, non-profits and social enterprises and voluntary sector organisations, as well as urban planning and policy consultancy firms.
