The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has issued a notification inviting citizens to register as "Kere Mitra" or lake volunteers to help manage the city's lakes. This is the third round of recruitment where volunteers will be involved in maintaining 124 lakes. Special Commissioner Preeti Gehlot announced the list of available lakes on the website.

'2024 Voices' initiative aims to empower citizens by actively seeking citizen feedback to guide policymaking. It highlights how the initiative will act as a bridge between citizens and decision- makers to ensure citizen voices are heard in addressing challenges from digitalization, environmental and demographic transitions.
