Policy Webinar: Digital Citizen Engagement

The policy webinar delved into the opportunities and challenges of digital citizen engagement to harness its full potential toward an inclusive, secure, and effective digital participatory environment.

The key outcomes were:

  • Simplify citizen engagement through tech platforms and allied technologies (eg. chatbots, AI, etc) on issues that are important to citizens and impact their quality of life in a manner so that citizens are willing to contribute.
  • The government is open to inviting citizens, citizen groups, social purpose organisations, and startups to contribute to digital citizen engagement initiatives.
  • If citizens don’t observe the tangible wins, citizens may feel apathy – hence continuous information to citizens with regards to their contribution is important.
  • It is important to understand data, the kind of data, and the usage of data to plan where it will be used (planning, budgeting, survey, etc).
